TRATO strengthens the environmental transparency of its luminaires with new PEPs
A luminaire’s performance is no longer assessed solely on its energy efficiency, lighting quality or service life. Environmental data is playing an increasingly important role in the decisions made by lighting designers, architects, project owners and installers.
To support this development, TRATO is continuing to produce Product Environmental Profiles for its different luminaire ranges. The SE 5080 LED range now has its own PEP ecopassport®.
What is a PEP ecopassport?
A Product Environmental Profile, or PEP, is an environmental declaration used to assess the impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle.
It takes into account:
- the raw materials used
- product manufacturing
- transport and installation
- energy consumption during use
- maintenance
- end-of-life treatment
Based on a Life Cycle Assessment and independently verified, this data enables building professionals to integrate environmental criteria from the earliest stages of their projects.
The SE 5080 LED now has its own PEP
The SE 5080 LED is an architectural linear lighting system available in suspended, surface-mounted and recessed versions.
Available as an individual luminaire or as part of a continuous lighting line, it is suitable for a wide range of professional environments while ensuring discreet and consistent integration into the architecture.
Its PEP now provides precise, verified information on its environmental impacts, from manufacturing through to end of life.
Useful environmental data for lighting projects
For TRATO customers and specifiers, PEPs provide a practical decision-making tool.
They can be used to:
- integrate the environmental characteristics of luminaires from the design stage
- contribute to the environmental assessment of a project
- support equipment choices with documented data
- complete technical and environmental documentation
- compare solutions using consistent and verified data
This information complements the technical criteria already considered when selecting a luminaire, such as luminous efficacy, visual comfort, service life and ease of maintenance.
Several TRATO ranges already have a PEP
With the SE 5080 LED, TRATO is further expanding its range of lighting solutions supported by recognised environmental data.
Several product ranges already have a PEP ecopassport:
These luminaires meet a variety of lighting requirements, particularly in retail spaces, supermarkets and hypermarkets, circulation areas, high-bay environments and projects requiring track-mounted solutions.
New PEPs are also currently being prepared for the LE 5226 and DL 5234 ranges.
An initiative aligned with TRATO’s commitments
The development of PEPs is fully aligned with TRATO’s CSR approach and its commitment to improving the environmental transparency of its products.
This initiative complements the different factors considered during the development of TRATO lighting solutions:
- improving energy efficiency
- reducing and controlling energy consumption
- selecting high-performance components
- ensuring equipment repairability and maintainability
- taking product service life into account
- developing renovation and retrofit solutions
Through this approach, TRATO provides lighting solutions that combine lighting performance, durability and a better understanding of their environmental impacts.
